2024 Spring USCLAP, Undergraduate Class Project Competition Winners

 

Research Category      

Nathan Weaver, Max Logalbo, and Jonathan Pipping placed third in the Research category with their project entitled “Topological Data Analysis (TDA) for Classification of AI Generated Faces”.

Intermediate Statistics Category

Matheus Kunzler Maldaner, Justin Witter, Patrick Lehman, Raul Valle, and Eric Chao placed second in the Intermediate Statistics Category for their project on “Optimizing Digital Learning Through Data Analytics and Natural Language Processing”

Alisha Bhatia also received an honorable mention for the project for “Single-Cell RNA Sequencing (scRNAseq) Analysis of Murine Glioma to Investigate the Potential of Astrocytes as a Therapeutic Target” in the Intermdeiate Statistics Category.

Project Scope for USCLAP Competition:

The class project competition is for undergraduate students who conduct projects as part of an introductory or intermediate level statistics or data science course. Most projects submitted to the USCLAP competition involve analyzing real data using existing statistical techniques. Students may choose any topic on which to conduct a study and students may use existing data or collect their own.
